Accessibility

BrightPath Supports provides services to people with disability. It would be a poor look if our own website were difficult to use, so accessibility is treated as part of the build rather than something checked at the end.

This page sets out what we have done, what we know is imperfect, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

Keyboard navigation

Every interactive part of this site can be operated with a keyboard alone. Tab moves forward, Shift and Tab move back, Enter and Space activate. The navigation menus, accordions, tabs, filters and the multi-step referral form are all reachable and operable without a mouse.

A "Skip to main content" link is the first thing you reach on every page, so you do not have to tab through the whole menu to get to the content.

Focus states

Whatever you are focused on is marked with a visible outline in the same style on every page. We have not removed focus indicators anywhere, and we have not replaced them with a colour change alone, which is easy to miss.

Colour and contrast

Body text sits at a contrast ratio of at least 7:1 against its background, and no text falls below 4.5:1. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed — availability badges carry a text label and a shape as well as a colour, and form errors carry an icon and a written message.

Text size

Body text is 17px and never smaller than 15px anywhere on the site. The layout uses relative units, so the page reflows properly if you increase text size in your browser or zoom to 200 per cent.

Form labels and errors

Every field has a visible label that stays visible while you type. Hint text is linked to its field programmatically rather than sitting in the placeholder. Error messages appear next to the field, describe what to do rather than just stating that something is wrong, and are announced to screen readers.

Reduced motion

If your device is set to reduce motion, all animation is switched off — not just shortened. Scroll reveals resolve immediately, the parallax layer does not run at all, and hover movement is removed. You can set this in your operating system's accessibility settings.

Semantic markup

Pages use proper HTML landmarks — header, nav, main, footer — with one h1 per page and heading levels that descend in order. Lists are marked up as lists and buttons as buttons, so assistive technology reports the page structure accurately.

Alternative text

Images carry alternative text that describes what matters about them in context. Decorative images and icons are hidden from screen readers so they do not clutter the reading experience.

We will acknowledge within two business days and tell you what we can fix and when. If we cannot fix something quickly, we will offer another way to get what you needed.

Alternative formats

Any information on this site can be provided in large print, Easy Read or as an audio recording at no cost. Interpreting and Auslan services can be arranged for meetings — tell us at enquiry rather than on the day, so we can book someone good.
