Careers
Make a difference doing work that matters.
We are hiring support workers, team leaders and coordinators across Greater Sydney. Above-award pay, rosters you can plan around, and a team leader who picks up the phone.
Why work with us
The sector has a retention problem. We decided not to have one.
Support work is hard to do well and easy to do badly, and most of the difference comes down to whether the organisation behind the worker is any good. Too many providers run on unpaid travel, rosters published on a Friday night, and a phone number nobody answers at 6am when a shift falls over.
We built BrightPath the other way round, because consistent workers are the single thing participants ask for most. Our average support worker has been with us for three and a half years. In this sector that is unusual, and it is not an accident.
- Paid induction before your first shift, not learning on the job
- Consistent participants, so you build real relationships
- Someone reachable during every shift
Benefits
What you actually get
Not a fruit bowl and a foosball table. The things that determine whether this job is sustainable.
Above-award pay
We pay above the SCHADS Award minimum at every level, with penalty rates on evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Rosters you can plan around
Published a fortnight ahead and built from the availability you give us, not the other way round.
Paid travel
Travel time between shifts is paid and kilometres are reimbursed at the ATO rate.
Real training budget
Paid induction and ongoing professional development during working hours, funded by us.
A team leader who answers
Every worker has a regional team leader who is reachable during shifts. Not a portal, a person.
Career progression
Senior support worker, team leader and coordinator roles are filled from within wherever we can.
Culture
Small enough that people know your name.
We are 140 support workers across eight regions, with regional teams small enough that your team leader knows what you are good at and what you would rather not do.
Debriefs happen after hard shifts, not weeks later. Ideas from the field reach the director, and several of our current policies started as a suggestion from someone on the floor. Nobody is expected to absorb difficult things alone.
We also recruit deliberately for diversity of language, culture and lived experience, because our participants are diverse and matching matters.
Open roles
Current jobs
Six roles open across Sydney. We also accept expressions of interest when nothing listed suits.
Hiring process
From application to first shift
Usually two to three weeks, most of which is waiting on screening checks.
Apply online
A short form and your resume. No cover letter required — we would rather read about you than a template.
Phone chat
Fifteen minutes with our people team to talk through availability and what you are looking for.
Interview
In person at one of our offices, or by video if that suits better. Practical scenarios, not trick questions.
Checks and induction
Screening checks, references, then a paid two-day induction before your first shift.
Questions
Working at BrightPath
Not to apply. A Certificate III in Individual Support helps, but plenty of our best workers came from hospitality, retail or aged care with no formal qualification. What you do need is a current driver's licence, the right to work in Australia and the willingness to complete our paid induction.
An NDIS Worker Screening Check and a Working with Children Check before your first shift. We cover the cost of both and help you through the applications. You will also need a First Aid and CPR certificate, which we will pay for if you do not already have one.
You tell us your availability and we roster to it. Rosters are published a fortnight ahead. Casual staff can decline shifts without any consequence — we would rather know early than have someone turn up resentful.
Yes. Travel time between consecutive shifts is paid, and kilometres are reimbursed at the ATO rate. Travel from home to your first shift is not paid, which is standard across the sector.
A paid two-day induction covering manual handling, safeguarding, infection control and our systems. After that, ongoing training in areas like positive behaviour support, medication administration, epilepsy management and Auslan basics — all funded by us and completed during paid hours.
