Capacity building
Life Skills Development
Practical skill building for the independence you are working towards — cooking, money, travel, technology and the confidence that comes with them.
Introduction
What this support actually looks like
Life skills support is about doing less for you over time, not more. We work on the specific skills that would make the biggest difference to your week, break them into steps, and practise until they stick.
Progress is tracked in plain language so you can see it, and so it is there as evidence at your next plan review. Small, boring, repeated wins are how this works.
Who this may suit
- You are preparing to move into your own place
- Cooking, budgeting or shopping feel out of reach right now
- You want to travel independently on public transport

Questions
About life skills
It varies with the goal. A single skill like one bus route might take six to eight weeks. Broader goals such as preparing to live independently commonly run across a plan period, with support reducing as you progress.
Capacity building is intended to reduce your need for core supports over time, and that is a good outcome. We document progress carefully so any change at review reflects what you can genuinely do now.
Absolutely, if you want them to be. It often helps when everyone uses the same approach. Equally, some participants want this to be their own thing — that is your decision to make.
