Local introduction

Support in Parramatta, from people who know Parramatta.

Parramatta has changed enormously in the last decade, and not all of that change has been good for accessibility. New developments along the river are excellent; some of the older streets around Harris Park still have footpaths that a wheelchair cannot manage. Our local team knows which is which, and plans around it.

We have supported participants in Parramatta since BrightPath started here in 2016. The team is now 38 support workers, a team leader based at our Church Street office and two support coordinators. Between them they speak Arabic, Mandarin, Hindi, Tamil, Korean and Auslan.

Practical things that matter locally: the aquatic centre at Parramatta Park has a pool hoist and accessible change facilities. Westfield has accessible parking on level 3 that is far easier than the ground floor. The T1 line is step-free at Parramatta but not at every station on the route, which matters if you are planning independent travel.

Questions

Parramatta questions

Harris Park, Westmead, North Parramatta, Granville, Rosehill, Merrylands, Northmead and Oatlands, plus the surrounding streets. If you are just outside that list, ring us — we can usually make it work, particularly for in-home and daily living support.

Parramatta is our largest team, so we usually have capacity within two weeks. Early morning and weekend shifts are the tightest, so tell us at enquiry if those are what you need.

Yes. Marsden Street House is a three-bedroom accessible home a ten-minute walk from the station, currently with one vacancy. Availability changes, so check the SIL homes page for the current position.

Across the Parramatta team we have workers who speak Arabic, Mandarin, Hindi, Tamil, Korean and Auslan. Tell us what you need at enquiry and we will match where we can rather than promising and then falling short.
